I have been using a
particular internet service provider for the past two or three years now and I
don’t know about you but IPNX...no,no.no. I don’t think I can stand to use them
again.
I don’t know if it’s the
mediocre nature of some of their customer service personnel, but they seem to
be snail crawling and so. Initially, when we got IPNX, we had some good
service. There were mess ups, yeah but we took it all in stride. But the moment
comes when you want to open your mail to treat an important message or mail and
guess what? The internet is sooooooooo slow; you just see your browser icon
swirling round d and round and round. When you call them, they say, "Oh, sorry.
Please put off and put your internet back on. Position your router differently"
etc.
One time, for two or three
days, we had no internet service! We called them and we were told, “Please bear
with us, we are going through some current challenges and our engineers are on
site to work on it. It will run shortly” When asked if those days would be
added to our monthly plan, they said no. What kind of internet service provider
for a 10GB monthly plan for N15, 750.00 gives you such a crappy network?
Check this out: for every
10 persons who have IPNX as an internet provider, I believe 6 or 7 persons have
a backup plan. I have friends who do not solely rely on IPNX. In fact, it’s
like there’s a little devil with a three pronged fork sitting at their
headquarters and immediately they see you have an important mail or business to
attend to via the internet service they provide, uses the fork to trouble the
invisible internet fibres (or whatchamacallit) and thus slow your progress for
that period or disrupt it altogether. On one of their flyers, they said a true
broadband service with high speed internet. IPNX, really?
On their website is
“Internet connection, anytime, everywhere”. I can categorically tell you that
such a statement is not true. Perhaps they do better for those who pay their professional,
small business and small business plus plans but for us on home office, it’s
crappy all the way to internet hell. I cannot begin to say what I have lost
business wise because of IPNX’s “high speed” internet. We are welcomed to a" new
experience"...the first of its kind in Nigeria. Wow! I’m really seeing a new experience
indeed. Let’s not forget, the first, the holy book says shall be the last. You
need to stay and keep ahead because it seems other service providers are
“spartaning” you out of the big league.
I am not an expert when it
comes to wireless broadband. I cannot even pretend to know anything about it
but I know that when you market something, give me what I paid for. When you
have issues with the network, communicate it clearly with your customers. I
keep hearing glowing reports of etisalat, swift and cobranet (though I think
they have a nonchalant attitude to people in Abuja. Trust me, I have called
them. Anyhow, I hear they are just setting up in Abuja so no worries)
I gave the last customer
service personnel a piece of my mind last week because I had been trying to
open my mail so I could respond to a very important customer and my delay was
going to cost money, I mean, serious money and he didn’t even try to respond
politely when I told him I was not going to use IPNX this month. I bet his ear
had become like frozen cartilage so he didn’t care what I said or which way I
went. I also think this means IPNX probably does not take care of their
customer service personnel (unless I always call them on their bad days). So last week, I got a new wireless internet service provider called Spectranet. I have heard a lot of
positives about them and after waiting 1 year 3 months for IPNX to get their
act together, it’s time to end my relationship with them and move on. I do hope
whatever issues they have, they sort it out fast. In this day and age,
everything happens online (most things anyway)
I’ll put up my review on
Spectranet soon. So far their customer service has been nice.
